What We're Doing
During the pandemic, there was a notable decline in mental health globally, particularly amongst vulnerable groups. According to the World Happiness Report of 2021, one of the key supports to overcoming the trauma and consequences of the pandemic is to establish a sense of trust and dependence on (reliable) others. This fact has largely influenced our approach to what we’re working for in mental health.
From inception, having access to mental health and other support skills as a resource that can be used to uplift others has been our motivation. These ideals have become the ideals that our Foundations values are built on: establish genuine connections with people across geographies because theory has shown that these connections support psychological healing and growth and then leverage these connections for humanitarianism in our mental health related work.
Our vision is to work towards social justice for all. A deep-rooted value that underpins our work is to restore human dignity to vulnerable communities. In so doing we hope to restore hope to these groups, thus activating internal motivation. By taking a systematic approach towards accomplishing our vision, our Foundations mission is more easily accomplished: stimulating a sense of agency in the most vulnerable as a means to empowering them.
